Grand China Tour April 2009

Here we go again, on another virtual tour...

Planner Kez and Accountant Cate from Moree, two unwary Australian women off on an adventure to the far east ...(an Intrepid Travel trip to China...) so the basic itinerary is...

First stop HONG KONG... & catch up with former Shoalhaven City Council planner - Matt Lennartz for a beer or two & check out the sites, shopping... pink dolphins etc, then on Good Friday it is off to the mainland for the real trip.

Overnight train to Guilin, then bus to Yangshuo for a couple of days of checking out the scenic karst mountains on the Li River - China's cleanest!

Monday 13th is Chengdu - capital of Sichuan, ready for some real hot food - mmmmm chilli hot... Giant pandas, gardens, temples, tea, and stuff...

Chongqing on the 15th for a Yangste / Yangzi River cruise down to Yichang - the Three Gorges & dam - then bus to Wuhan & fly to Terracotta warrior town - Xi'an for the next few days ('til 21st).

Then on to Hangzhou, which apparently has a great lake to check out - there are probably other things to do as well like tea and great food.

23rd is off to Shanghai, the Maglev, gardens, the Bund, huge buildings, acrobats and other interesting cultural activities.

Beijing, Gobi Desert Sand and Peking duck on the 18th for the last few days, the summer palace, Tiananmen Square as well as the magnificent Forbidden City and the newly restored Temple of Heaven and no trip to China would be complete without a day out at the Great Wall.

Home via Hong Kong on 29/ 30th, then back to work on the 1st May!

Stay posted for more posts.
Cheers
